Launching as the first drop of the new designs, the X-Alp is subtly adapted for the MM6 Maison Margiela Spring-Summer 2024 collection. Conceptually refreshed by the MM6 design studio, the protective and functional hiking shoe is reinterpreted in two new neat and radical colourways, toning down the technical details to focus on the shoe’s cool aerodynamic shape. Graphic silhouettes of pure monochrome black and signature shades of whites and creams contrasted with black details add a sharp, sartorial edge to this staple of SALOMON’s mountaineering heritage. The line of the iconic sneaker is distilled into a new urban classic. Like a handmade stamp, the MM6 numeric signature logo unexpectedly crops up on the shoe’s tongue, an artisanal hallmark to complement the bold, hi-tech graphic of the SALOMON logo.

Making its debut as part of MM6 Maison Margiela’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection, the XT-4 – a SALOMON icon – is re-engineered as an All-Gender slipper for the street by the MM6 design studio. Filtered through MM6’s irreverent design perspective, the high-tech sneaker unexpectedly morphs into a geek-chic summer mule. Advanced trail-running technologies are repurposed into the most essential and universal shoe form, geared towards ease and comfort. Neither pool slide nor running sneaker, the avant-garde XT-4 Mule comes in three colourways, comprising a minimalist all-black design in a stealth tile texture and two multi-shade iterations. A white version offers gradient blue, purple and fluorescent yellow accents, while a more muted style, in washed-out shades reminiscent of objects bleached by the sun and the sea, features a vanishing SALOMON logo and contrasting yellow and shale tones shot through with a lapis blue, to highlight the technological nature of the sole.
The MM6 Maison Margiela x SALOMON X-Alp hiking sneakers and XT-4 Mules are now available on both MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon’s e-commerce site and selected MM6 and Salomon boutiques in Hong Kong.
